BIOGRAPHY

Laurent Vang is a French composer and orchestrator for short and feature film soundtrack. Inspired by the works of orchestral composers such as John Powell  for his soundtracks How to train your dragon (Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders) and Stravinksy, he also loves jazz music and big band scores. The ingenious sound of Bob Brookmeyer made him look into jazz scores as much as jazz fusion bands like Snarky Puppy.

After he started playing the guitar at the age of 8, he fell in love with the piano. With classical and orchestration knowledges, he started to learn jazz music and how to write for a combo or a big band at the Ecole Nationale de Musique in Villeurbanne. In addition, he composed and played in an electro pop duo named Labrune.

After some opportunities for musical theatre (2017) and escape game's soundtracks such as Digimiam from Just Escape (2019), he worked on more than thirty projects in 2020, from video game to animated short film. He is the  co-founder of Blanktone Studio, a professional music studio.

A true cinephile, he is as inspired by Quentin Tarantino and his approach of the use of pop culture as Hans Zimmer and the research in musical sound design. Movies like Sweeney Todd (Tim Burton, music from Sondheim) the wonderful Star Trek also feature among his  sources of inspiration with the orchestral color of Jerry Goldsmith.
